Lake Eyre
The Lake Eyre basin covers one sixth of Australia, being a large part of South Australia, Northern Territory, Queensland and a smaller portion of New South Wales.
Due to the substantial rainfalls across the Georgina, Diamantina and Cooper catchments throughout this year there is considerable water in the systems as well as Lake Eyre itself. Presently, when flying from Goyders Lagoon to the northern edge of the Lake Eyre, water can be seen running into Lake Eyre from the Warburton River, Coopers Creek and Kalaweerina Creek with about 60-70 % coverage of the Lake. Since 1950 there have been less than twenty recorded flows into the Lake.
We are running one and two days tours ex Longreach over Lake Eyre and the Channel Country throughout August and September. Any future tours will be dependent upon the amount of water left in Lake Eyre as well as the season and conditions.
Please contact us for more details on the above outlined tours. You many also like to discuss adapting these tours to suit your individual group. |
